چکیده
Implementing environmentally friendly fuels and high efficiency propulsion technologies to replace the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) fueled by fossil such as Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) Marine Gas (MGO) on board ships represents an attractive solution for maritime power. In this context, fuel cells can play a crucial role, thanks their energy ultra-low zero criteria pollutant emissions environmental impact. This paper performs technical feasibility analysis replacing conventional diesel engine powertrain commercial vessel with innovative system consisting of ammonia-fuel-based Solid Oxide Cell (SOFC) technology. Taking into account size engines installed typical cruise performed vessel, ammonia consumption, well optimal have been assessed. particular, SOFC is sized at same maximum power output main reference engine. The mass balances ammonia-based in Aspen Plus TM environment. gravimetric (kWh kg −1 ) volumetric m −3 density features storage technology weight volume proposed are evaluated verifying compliance ship’s space requirements. Results highlight that involves increase both room compared fuel. cargo reduction about 2.88% necessary fit available diesel-fueled ship.

A New Sensitivity Study of Thermal Stress Distribution for a Planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cell
Converting chemical energy into electricity is done by an electro-chemical device known as a fuel cell. Thermal stress is caused at high operating temperature between 700 oC to 1000 oC of SOFC. Thermal stress causes gas escape, structure variability, crack initiation, crack propagation, and cease operation of the SOFC before its lifetime. The aim of this study is to presen...
